Similar to a locked room mystery with all-together unique characters and a setting having an Asian flair. Author can clearly throw some major league curves (twists) with regards to killer's ultimate identity as seemingly most every character had motive, means and opportunity - that and knowing a sequel "Murder on the Rocks" is in the offing has me really puzzled as to where that story line will lead. A good book and it did keep me guessing!

Murder In A Minute eBook Shouvik Bhattacharya Reviews

(I voluntarily reviewed an ARC for For The Love of Fictional Worlds)

I grew up with Nancy Drews, Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie mysteries – and to be honest, they have set a bar quite high when it comes to thrillers, but especially “who dunnit” mysteries. But recently, my bars have gone towards, the more dark, twisted, the better enjoyment I have in reading them (let’s not go towards my mental state; it’s a dark path that you shouldn’t even think about!).

Now this book; Murder In A Minute had me hooked from the moment I read the blurb; and I while I couldn’t enjoy it uninterrupted (Thank You, Family Time!), but I get my chance to read it on the way back home from my holidays, an hour into the flight!

Coming to my reading preferences, I still read mysteries, but I rarely get the same thrill I used to, because in most books I tend to pick off the killer within a few chapters, and hence, I do not enjoy the book as much as I should, exceptions as always!

This book, now starts off with a woman’s thoughts on her life and her circumstances without even knowing, or believing that she’s about to be murdered! This woman was Esha, the adopted daughter of an industrialist, the young CEO of her father’s company and a famous one at that! But her murder opens a big can of worms, in her industrialist family, which like any other family, have their own secrets!

13 pages in, and I had strong suspicions about the killer; but the REAL TALENT of the author lay in the fact that despite my STRONG BELIEF about the killer’s identity and motives; the author had me DOUBT MY CONVICTIONS and MY EXPERIENCE in the criminal investigative field that had my grudging and utmost respect.

This “who dunnit” mystery was brilliantly, fantastically written and it had the joy of having me hooked right in as a reader from the start – a cozy read for the long winter nights ahead accompanied with a cup of hot chocolate/coffee/tea, which I so sincerely wish was how I had my experience of this book!

P.S. The author gives a very freaking humongous clue about the next book, and I NEED IT NOW!
Fun book, the writing was real easy to get into and kept my attention as a good book should. Nothing amazing but a fun read. Definitely a very surprising ending!
I almost couldn't finish the book. Had to fast skim the last few chapters. Too tired and boring the way the plot dragged on and on. At that point, I didn't even care who committed the murder. This was a very bad "who done it".
Murder in a Minute, is a story which is beautifully crafted with Suspense stored in every chapter. It promises a sequel too.
I was very excited to read this novel because there was a lot of fuss around before it's release. It does not disappoint at all but leaves you awed at the end. It doesn't hold good grip on emotions, but it really creates Suspense while reading the story. Read it. To get surprised.
I was very impressed with this book. I love a good murder mystery but hate when the ending is too easy to guess. This is truly a book that kept me guessing until then end, and even then I guessed wrong. I was so absorbed into the world the author created that I struggled to put the book down. I highly recommend you give it a read.
I can rightly call the author a master mind for the mysterious plot he has woven in the novel. He has an incredible grip throughout the novel. The novel is full of twists and turns. After reading every single chapter, your suspicion shifts from one person to the other, but I'm pretty much sure that no one can guess the real murderer. You can thin you know who it is, but that is exactly what the author wants. I have not regretted even a single second for reading this novel and now a days its hard to find such novels which keeps you engrossed throughout the novel. Well defined characters, fully described picturesque hill station, and to top it all Lust, plenty of deception and mystery.
To conclude it in few words " YOU ARE VERY SMART IF YOU FIGURE OUT THE CULPRIT EARLY, the clues are there."
