Yin and Yang by Edward Kendrick
Two men—Kenyon a street cop, and Teo a social worker—come together as they try to help a seven-year-old boy abandoned by his mother.
Neal, a young boy abandoned on the streets by his mother, is found by policeman Kenyon Hagerty and instantly bonds with him. Social worker Teo Marino becomes involved when the boy is placed in the care of Human Services. Soon after, the body of Neal’s murdered mother is discovered then later Neal’s father tries to kidnap him from the kids’ home.
Kenyon is a man looking for real love, while Teo is the consummate playboy, going from one man to another as the spirit moves him. And yet these two men, truly yin and yang, are drawn together. It takes a misunderstanding to force them to face their feelings for each other.
When Neal runs away looking for Kenyon—who he believes will adopt him—the two men must make a decision regarding Neal’s life—and their own.

About the Author
Born and bred Cleveland, I earned a degree in technical theater, later switched to costuming and headed to NYC. Finally seeing the futility of trying to become rich and famous in the Big Apple, I joined VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America), ending up in Chicago for three years. Then it was on to Denver where I put down roots and worked as a costume designer until just recently.
I began writing a few years ago after joining an online fanfic group. Two friends and I then started a group for writers where they may post any story they wish no matter the genre or content. Since then, for the last three years, I've been writing for publication. Most, but not all, of my work is m/m, either mildly erotic or purely 'romantic', and more often than not it involves a mystery or covert operations.

This book is a wonderful, warm, caring story of two men and a boy, who meet each other under unusual circumstances.Love shown by them to the young boy and how the youngster feels good karma from the police officer and the warmth from the social worker.
The two men show the youngster that they are there to protect him, even though neither one can take him in personally, they convey to Neal that they will do everything to find his mother. He reluctantly goes to the group home, however both police officer and social worker are involved in Neal's life; and, learn through trial and error how much they are becoming involved with each other.
Neal has special abilities he obtained from his mother that helps him feel her love and his loss.
The two men develop their relationship as friends; and then working towards a long term relationship but with the heartache, jealousy, anger, that can occur while dating.
The story gives us all an insight about the meaning of love, trust, honesty that children at a young age receive from a parent and then as the development deepens with these same qualities being shown to Neal by the police officer and the social worker.
We learn about foster care versus adoption, marriage, family acceptance or non acceptance of coming out and how the two men had to deal with the decisions by family members.
It's a wonderful story, well written, a birthday gift, and continuation of their lives as they developed over a period of time. A marriage and gathering of family.

Yin and Yang edition by Edward Kendrick Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
It's hard to pin point exactly what was so bad. With a good editor at the writer's side, this could have been a good story. The first three chapters did not flow; it was so difficult to determine what does the author wish to tell. The characters were matched from some TV Cop Show! I never made it beyond six chapters; after that, I was sorry that I had read that much.
The story has its lighter points but for the most part is realistic. Reasonable character development and no unusual plot devices to move the story around. There is a bit of flirting with the paranormal which is reasonably explained.
